WHS v Paraparaumu (07/05/10)

After steam rolling Wellington Coll 'C' team last week, our game against Paraparaumu was probably going to be one of the harder games this round. Thankfully the boys game out strong scoring 20 points in the opening quarter thanks to some sharp shooting from Sam Keller and some big rebounds from Dier Makoii. Our intensity continued through the remainder of the game as we outscored Paraparaumu in all four quarters to win 77 - 54.

Dier had an all star performance scoring 32 points along with 26 rebounds and 8 blocks. Sam Keller contributed 16 points and 9 rebounds and Hamdi Yusuf distributed the ball well with 9 assists, also throwing 5 steals into the mix. Other members of the team contributed well with Kanin Clarke picking up 2 assists and Jayden Smith bringing down 7 rebounds in crucial points of the game.

It wasn't all good news though, with a lot to work on in training this week. Team communication was lacking throughout the match and we struggled to protect the ball as we brought it up the court. These are things we will need to work on if we hope to be successful in the next half of the round.
